NEW YORK — The International Monetary Fund announced it will name Shirin Hamid as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of the Information Technology Department (ITD), the multilateral lender said today in a public statement.
A Singaporean national Ms. Hamid is expected to assume her new role on January 4, 2022, the IMF said, succeeding Ed Anderson, who separated from the Fund in June.
Most recently, Ms. Hamid was the Director General and CIO of the Information Technology Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) since 2016, where she led a team of over 600 IT personnel, according to the statement. In that role, Ms. Hamid revolutionized the Bank’s IT ecosystem, modernized policies, revamped existing operations, strengthened IT and data governance, and fostered innovation on big data, cybersecurity, and digital platforms, the statement said.
“Shirin brings to the Fund a wealth of IT leadership experience, having held key positions in both national and global institutions,” the IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva said in the statement.
