The combined GDP of the 38 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development members has surpassed its pre-pandemic GDP level for the first time, though many still lag behind. Based on preliminary estimates, GDP in the OECD area was up 0.5% in the third quarter of 2021, relative to the fourth quarter of 2019.

Growth was largely driven by the US, South Korea and Israel, as well as “some European countries”, the OECD said in a statement.
